"Over the course of the lifetime of our little site we have added projects that we felt foster creativity and positivity - not just for TMS, but for the internet as a whole. We want to be able to highlight the things we love and the things that our very talented friends are doing and make jokes about ding dongs. With that is mind, we are so delighted to announce that our very own Theresa Martin will be starting her very own project right here on Tell Me Something! But first we need your help! Please see her post below for more information. Yay Theresa!" -Dylan Wise
Once upon a time, I dated a handful of “men.” Good ones, bad ones, weird ones (mostly weird ones). Some were emotional, some were closed-off, some were smart, some not so much. I've been engaged, then I was no longer engaged. I sowed some wild oats (sowed em reeeeal good). And I even fell in love with a few of the guys I dated. I learned from each and every one of them and regret nothing, surprisingly, because regrets really are worthless (hey did you guys know Midtown is reuniting?!). I feel lucky to have experienced everything in my relationships and to have gotten so close to those people I no longer have in my life.
While all these relationships were happening I was going through college, running a radio station, traveling, and starting my career. My life has taken some strange turns to lead me to this place and this career. It's a career which has, thankfully, caused me to become an incredibly patient person. In 5 short years I went from working in a group home, to running a group home, to now overseeing several group homes in a variety of ways across New York City, The Bronx, Queens, Long Island, pretty much every place with an accent. I investigate allegations of abuse, track data, and do various QA and administrative tasks. I’ve been beaten up, peed on, and much worse - and I’ve loved almost every minute of it (no I do not like getting peed on).
And now here I am, a 27 year old woman even though it’s weird to call myself that. I’m in love with an amazing man who reminds me how strong I am and how far I’ve come every day. I’m currently living on Long Island and working in NYC after a brief stint of upstate New York living (do not recommend if you like being warm). I love to cook, love rock n’ roll, and I really do love my life. I feel incredibly stable and content, and I’m here because I learned from my mistakes. Let’s call them missteps, actually. Again, no regrets.
So, now I’d like to share these good feels with you. I want to help you on your journey, if you feel you need the help. I’m here for you. Even if you want to ask me a gruesome question re: bodily fluids and don’t feel comfortable posting it on the website, send me a private email. Because trust me, I get it and I feel. I would like to think of this as a sort of advice column, a way to explore our feelings and emotions and get in touch with them. We all have enough to go around. I want to talk with you guys and help you guys if I can and drink tea with you guys. I'm not an expert, just a gal who has had her heart broken and broken hearts and worn combat boots.
Each week we'll be exploring your questions in a fun and caring way, sharing stories, giving advice, drinking tea, bringing in guests (who may be experts) and probably cursing. But this only works if you have questions! Below you will find a form to submit a question, don't worry you can remain anonymous. Let's start a conversation and help each other. Thanks! -Theresa
