Queen of Hearts

Name: Fall Witch

Message: It's fall. Am I supposed to stop listening to my summer jams? How do I ease into these dark days of fall?

Dear Fall Witch,

My problem with this weather is it makes me feel sluggish. It’s super appealing to call out of work sick, heat up some soup, and hide under the covers watching Netflix and napping. But that’s kind of unreasonable and I’m trying really hard to be an adult these days. So I go out of my way to sometimes avoid tunes that remind of me this weather. For example, I’m not trying to get into any Bon Iver or Bright Eyes (Fevers and Mirrors really) these days.

I need to be picked up and motivated to get out there and be a person! At the same time, I’m ready to take a break from my fun summer playlist. I want something a little heavier, a little more dramatic, to listen to while I watch the leaves fall and shiver on the train platform.

So I’m going to give you a song, but I implore you to grab this entire album because it really needs to be experienced in its entirety.

REWIND to this....

Fucked Up - "Queen of Hearts": This is the second track off David Comes to Life; an incredible album by Canadian band Fucked Up. They’ve been called punk rock, hardcore, and post-hardcore, and this album has been described as a concept album and a rock opera. Labels don’t matter in this case (or ever) because it is truly just AMAZING! The scene for a love story between “David” and “Veronica” is set with this track. This song describes the beginning of their relationship, and it gives me so many good feels. It also kicks ass and I dare you not to drive a little faster and smile and even yell along while you listen. Also the lyrics “the boot off my throat, let’s all emote” makes me want to scream in the best way possible. But don’t take my word for it; go grab this album, eat some pumpkin stuff, and put some cute boots on. This season is great!
